Long time passes

It's been almost three years since I used this blog. And really only ever intended to use it as a place to post my photos for friends to see, but after a while I stopped posting. So, a lot has changed in my life.

First and foremost, I got married. I met my husband Thomas through a mutual friend who dragged me to his friend's wedding. I actually met Thomas a year or two earlier at that same friend's apartment, but I didn't really meet and get to know him until that wedding.

I was still working meth labs, but we'd had such a decrease that I was also working firearms cases intended only for entry into the NIBIN database. NIBIN is a national database of bullets and cartridge cases, similar to AFIS (fingerprint database) and CODIS (DNA database). I spent most of my time test firing guns and making entries into the database. Thomas worked for Remington Arms where ammunition is made, so I told him his ammunition sucked. I guess he liked that because it wasn't long before we had our first date.

I decided to apply for a position in firearms and I started working permanently in that section in January of 2008. Thomas also moved in with me about then and began an apprenticeship as a machinist with Remington Arms.

We married in October of 2008. It was the most beautiful day!

And now it's been over a year. This is our second married Christmas. I finished firearms training at the end of July and have been pumping out the cases since then. We're the only section at the lab with a decreasing backlog. And I always get to come home to my hubby.
Life is good.

My precious babies

Christmas 2006

Katlyn has grown so much in the last year. These are pictures of her with her little brother Joseph and her baby cousin Jamie from Christmas.

Another shot of me at work

The newspaper printed an article about a computer program one of the local agencies is using to find meth labs and used a second picture taken at the lab I worked earlier in the week to compliment the article.

Working

I made the newspaper the first day I was on call. There was a lot of crap at this meth lab and it was bitterly cold, so I suited up to work it. I later put the hood of my sweatshirt up to try to stay warm, but it was still miserable. At least the sun was out. We had snow and ice for the next three days.

Zeus and Aphrodite

I got a kitten and named her Aphrodite. She's only around 2 and a half months old and she's so small compared to Zeus. It took a while, but they finally got used to one another, and now they play all the time.

The end of the trip

My friends Amelie, Melinda, Nick and Kathy on our last night.

Birds

There are tons of tourist attractions. These are pictures from a bird sanctuary thing.

The view from the room

These are shots from the window of Amelie and Melinda's room. You can see a schloop in one picture that has been stuck above the Horshoe Falls for many years now.

Night Shots of Niagara Falls

Some shots of the Canadian falls lit up.

The Skylon

The view from the revolving restaurant at the Skylon Tower in Canada.

The Maid of the Mist

These are shots from going on the Maid of the Mist into the falls. It's a little cold, but really cool.

The Butterfly Conservatory, Canada

Niagara Falls, America 2

A couple more shots of the American Falls with some rainbows, and then me in front of the Horshoe Falls on the American side.
